Help & support
swapd is a small app, so this is a small support page. If you run into something we haven’t covered here, email us — a real person will get back to you.
Android in testing
The iPhone version is on the App Store. Android is in closed testing while we polish it.
Want in? Email hello@getswapd.com with the Google account you use for the Play Store and we’ll add you to the testers list.
The basics
How a swap works
A swap is a private space between you and one other person. Every day you each answer a small prompt — a photo, caption or voice note. You both answer before you see each other’s. Once you’ve both answered the first five, new ones drip through, one a day.
Inviting someone
From inside a swap, tap Invite to get a share link. Send it by iMessage, WhatsApp, email — whatever. If they have swapd installed, tapping it lands them straight in the join screen. If they don’t, they’ll see a page with their invite code and an install button.
Joining with a code
If someone’s sent you a link and you already have swapd, tapping it should open the app at the join screen. If it doesn’t, open swapd, find the setup screen, and paste the code into the Got an invite code? box at the top.
Accounts
Forgot your password
On the sign-in screen, tap Forgot password? We’ll email you a code. Enter it along with a new password and you’re back in.
Changing your name or photo
Go to the You tab and tap your photo or name to update them. Your partner sees the new details the next time they open the app.
Changing your email
Not in the app yet. Email us at hello@getswapd.com from the old address and we’ll sort it.
Deleting your account
Email us at hello@getswapd.com and we’ll delete your account and all your photos within 30 days. A self-serve delete is on the way — when it lands it’ll live under You → Account.
Notifications
Not getting notifications
Usually this is a permission setting. On iOS go to Settings → Swapd → Notifications and make sure “Allow Notifications” is on. On Android go to Settings → Apps → Swapd → Notifications.
Inside the app, go to You → Notifications and make sure the toggle is on. If all of that’s fine and they’re still not arriving, email us — we can check our end.
Badge count won’t clear
The red badge clears when you open the app. If it’s stuck, force-quit swapd (swipe up from the home indicator and flick the swapd card away) and reopen.
Common questions
Why can’t I see their answers yet?
We hide each other’s answers until you’ve both responded. That’s the whole point — no scrolling a feed, no seeing a reply before you’ve written your own. Once you’ve both answered, the swap unlocks for both of you.
What are the “founding five”?
When you and someone new start a swap together, you each answer five short prompts about the two of you before the regular daily drip begins. The app picks them.
Can I have more than one swap?
Yes. Tap + from Home to start a new one with someone else.
Can I add a third person to an existing swap?
No — two people, by design. If you want to share memories with someone else, start a new swap with them.
Can I delete a photo I already sent?
Tap the photo in the revealed swap, then the three-dot menu, then Request removal. Your partner gets a notification asking them to agree. If they do, the photo is gone from both sides.
A photo is still locked. Why?
Some photos are time-locked — set to unlock on a specific date, often a birthday or anniversary. Until that date neither of you can see them. The lock screen tells you when it opens.
Something’s wrong
The app crashes or won’t open
Force-quit and reopen. If it still crashes, uninstall and reinstall — your account and swaps come back when you sign in again. If it keeps happening, email us with your phone model and iOS or Android version.
I think there’s a bug
Email hello@getswapd.com with what you did, what you expected, and what actually happened. A screenshot or short screen recording helps a lot.
Privacy, terms, safety
Still stuck?
Email hello@getswapd.com and we’ll get back to you.
